Who We Are

Disciples Together:

Disciples - learners/students/followers of Jesus the Christ - To be a Disciple means that one is on a life long journey of striving for Christian maturity, leaning upon God's grace when we err so that we can get right back up and continue the journey towards Christ-likeness.

Together - We can not do this alone. God never intended for anyone to be a "lone ranger" Christian. We need each other in the journey of discipleship because it is in the fellowship of believers that iron sharpens iron. (Proverbs 27:17; Ecclesiastes 4:8-10)

Our Mission
To be and to share the Good News of Jesus Christ - witnessing, loving, and serving from our doorsteps to the ends of the earth.

The Good News
We strive to teach and preach the Good News of Jesus Christ over and above opinions, preferences, and divisive doctrines.

A Bible Church
The Bible is our main guide. Culture will change, fads will come and go but the Word of God will remain. Jesus is the Word of God and the Bible testifies that Jesus is Lord and Savior.

Inter-Generational
We believe the Church is at its best when young, old and in-between, can worship together and learn from each other and do life together.

The Lord's Table
The central part of our worship gathering each week is the observance of the Lord's Supper. We welcome all who put their faith in Jesus to join us in this sacred moment of remembering and celebrating the broken body of Christ and his blood shed for the forgiveness of sins.

Baptism
We celebrate and commemorate new life in Christ by immersing (dipping under water) repentant believers who have placed their faith upon Jesus. We go down into the "watery grave" where we trust God's grace to wash our sins away and we rise again to newness of life when we come out of the water - A new creation in Christ! (2 Corinthians 5:17). If you would like to learn more about baptism or would like to be baptized, email Pastor Bartee.

Welcoming
Our church is living proof that being a welcoming and loving church is not a cliche. This is not just lip service, and we don't say this because we aspire to be welcoming and loving - It is who we are. With the measure that Christ has loved us, we love all who come who come seeking the Savior. Come see for yourself.

Missional
Our church is involved in giving to and supporting local and global ministries that are making a difference for Christ in this world. We support an African Orphanage called Neema (Grace) House, the Bastrop County Emergency Food Pantry (financially and through food drives), The Bastrop Family Crisis Center, CASA of Bastrop County, and the Bastrop Pregnancy Resource Center, Mission U-Too and the Open Door Soup Kitchen

Proud of our Past
By God's good grace, we stand on a foundation of Disciples from yester-year who left us with a beautiful and historic building located in Bastrop, TX - "the most historic small town in Texas". We take pride in what has been left to us and we see it as our responsiblity and an act of worship to preserve the past in order to testify to God's never ending faithfulness.

Excited for our Future
The church was never meant to live off of its past successes but to embrace every new day and to minister with the sense that God is not stuck in the past but He is present in the here and now and He is already in our future. It is not enough to stand upon an earlier foundation of faithful Christian living - The present is the perfect time to build upon that foundation for future generations of Disciples who will continue the legacy of meeting weekly at the Lord's Table.
